Message from Rangam Leadership Team
Embracing Diversity and Inclusion
June is Pride Month, a time to honor and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and their significant contributions to our society. Rangam recognizes the importance of promoting an inclusive environment where diversity is not just accepted but celebrated. We believe that every individual deserves to feel valued and respected, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Pride Month is a reminder of the progress made towards equality and the ongoing journey towards creating a more inclusive world. It is a time for celebration, reflection, and advocacy. By supporting and uplifting the voices of the LGBTQ+ community, we reaffirm our commitment to building a workplace and a world where everyone can be their authentic selves without fear of discrimination or prejudice.
What Pride Means to Rangam
During LGBT Pride Month, Kevin R. Sames, Executive Business Partner to the Co-Founder & CEO of Rangam, reflects on the progress made since he came out as a gay male 30 years ago. He expresses gratitude for those who supported him and emphasizes the importance of self-acceptance and taking action for oneself and the community. Watch the video here.
Why LGBTQ+ Inclusion Matters
While progress has been made in including members of various diverse communities in the workforce, the 2024 EY US LGBTQ+ Workplace Barometer reveals that there's still room for improvement. The report highlights the growing LGBTQ+ community in the US, particularly noting the significant presence of Gen Z individuals who are six times more likely than Gen X to identify as LGBTQ+. As Gen Z is set to become 30% of the workforce by 2030, the report emphasizes the importance for employers to deepen their focus on LGBTQ+ inclusion, visibility, and engagement. The survey of 500 LGBTQ+ full-time workers in mid- and large-size organizations reveals that companies prioritizing inclusion can enhance psychological safety and belonging, leading to higher retention rates. Notably, the report suggests that improving LGBTQ+ employee retention by just 5% could result in annual savings of nearly $4.2 million for the average Fortune 500 company. The report also highlights generational differences, with Gen Z LGBTQ+ employees being more critical of their employers' LGBTQ+ inclusion efforts compared to other generations. Additionally, an intersectional approach is recommended, particularly focusing on racially and ethnically diverse LGBTQ+ employees who are more likely to face harassment and microaggressions in the workplace.
As ever, Rangam is steadfastly committed to supporting the LGBTQ+ community in finding gainful employment and building a future in which diverse skills and perspectives are valued and celebrated. LGBTQ+ individuals are encouraged to explore career opportunities at Rangam and join us in our mission to create a more inclusive and diverse workforce.
